Our CSR CommitmentDiscover how SMS Partner is working to reduce its environmental impactOur Commitment: Reducing Our CO2 Emissions SMS Partner, the first carbon-neutral SMS platform that plants trees Since 2018, we have been partnering with CAPTE (the Collective of Stakeholders for Planting and Environmental Transition) to plant 13 trees for every million SMS sent from our platform. More than a choice, it is a commitment that complements the actions already implemented within the company’s premises. Did you know? If the digital world were a country, it would be the 6th most polluting country in the world. Digital pollution encompasses two components: manufacturing and energy consumption. The growth of digital technology drives significant electricity consumption: approximately 7% of global electricity production. But what about SMS? According to a study conducted by Green IT experts specializing in responsible digital practices, an SMS emits 0.014 grams of CO2 per message sent. By comparison, a Google search emits between 5 and 7 grams of CO2 and sending an email without an attachment emits 4g of CO2. Sending an SMS therefore emits nearly 300 times less CO2 than sending an email. Furthermore, using SMS to communicate is more effective, with a 95% read rate. Less energy-intensive and more efficient than email — what more could you ask for? If you’re looking for an eco-friendly communication method, sign up for free on our platform. SMS Partner is committed to the climate by following this principle: calculate, reduce and offset its carbon footprint. The ultimate goal: achieving carbon neutrality. Our approach consists of progressively reducing our emissions and offsetting them by co-funding eco-projects designed to capture greenhouse gases. To achieve this, we have established a partnership with a young Marseille-based company, CAPTE, which plants trees, particularly in agricultural environments. To date, we have planted over 2,000 trees through SMS sent from our platform. The "Les Sources de Zapatocà" Project in Colombia SMS Partner and CAPTE collaborate on projects, including one in Colombia. The “Sources de Zapatocà” project involves planting trees in areas where water sources originate, by introducing native species (agroforestry cacao trees, coffee plants, and citrus trees) suited to the local context in Colombia. Among the many benefits of these trees, beyond carbon capture, are increased biodiversity and the creation of new resources for local communities. About CAPTE CAPTE is a Marseille-based company certified ESUS (Solidarity-Based Company of Social Utility), founded in late 2016. CAPTE brings together an SAS and local development associations in Tunisia and Colombia. Their mission is to offer voluntary carbon offset solutions to combat climate disruption and foster solidarity. To this end, the collective implements agroforestry or forestry systems while keeping at the heart of their actions: partners large and small, farming beneficiaries, and local communities. Fayçal Boulkout, CEO of CAPTE: “More and more of us are becoming aware of the dramatic consequences that could arise if we don’t act now. CAPTE enables citizens and businesses of all sizes to take concrete, straightforward action.“ ZEI: for simple, effective and impactful CSR ZEI is the digital solution that enables companies to centralize, assess and manage their corporate social responsibility (CSR) and environmental, social and governance (ESG) initiatives. The platform offers tools to collect data, conduct diagnostics, and track key indicators, based on the main market frameworks (CSRD, ISO, Ecovadis, etc.). Since 2020, SMS Partner has been using ZEI to structure our CSR approach. We have achieved a score of 79%, reflecting our commitment and progress in this area.
