In most cases, users of Mail to SMS use this feature to generate the sending of an SMS from an email, which is the standard way Mail to SMS works. But did you know it was possible to do the reverse? Indeed, our SMS Partner platform also offers this option, which consists of sending a message to automatically trigger the sending of an email. Handy, isn’t it?

In this article, we explain how to use SMS to Mail with SMS Partner. You can also find all the information about our Mail to SMS solution on our website.

Send an SMS to receive an email

In some cases, your phone’s mobile data doesn’t work and it’s impossible to send an email from your phone or computer. With SMS to Mail, it is possible to send an email from a simple text message as long as you have carrier signal on your mobile phone. Using our APIs, it is possible to automatically forward a received SMS as an email message.

SMS to Mail prerequisites

To perform this operation, it is necessary to use the APIs of our email and SMS solutions. You will need to send your SMS to a specific number (to a virtual number dedicated to SMS to Mail).

This number will be hosted directly on your SMS Partner account, allowing you to retrieve the responses received through our SMS API. Responses will be automatically and instantly reported to your interface and can be retrieved via the API.

Upon receiving an SMS reply, you will be able to forward the message using any email API (for example, by using our Mail Partner solution). This feature can be used intensively (several thousand messages); however, receiving an email message sometimes takes a little longer than receiving an SMS message.

The SMS to Mail solution is often used in situations involving connectivity issues in a specific geographic area or for specific application and software needs.
